The United States Air Force’s official regional jazz ensemble, the Commanders, performs a free concert at Musco Center. These 19 musical airmen really know how to swing!

Drawn from the Air Force’s Band of the Golden West, the ensemble carries on the tradition of the legendary big bands, with styles including traditional and cool jazz, bop, swing, Broadway favorites, and patriotic music. The only active-duty Air Force band west of the Rockies, the Band of the Golden West is headquartered at Travis Air Force base and is under the direction of Captain Joseph S. Hansen. In addition to performing for civilian communities throughout California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Utah, the band supports 13 Air Force bases, 8 Air Force Reserve Wings, and 6 recruiting squadrons with more than 250 annual performances for 1.5 million fans.
