Famous for making his first million while at Chapman... we bring you, the entrepreneur, the marketing mastermind... Mike Brown '06.

Yes, technical skills are very important - and in many cases critical to landing a position and getting the job done.... but once you have the job, or when you are in the interview process - where you are competing with other well-qualified and trained candidates - what helps you move forward?

Answer: Your people skills and relationships. Its a fact - more than 80% of jobs today are being filled NOT by online applications, but rather personal introductions and relationships (aka, networking.) The phrase "its not what you know, its who you know" is becoming more common when we discuss career progression.

Thus, we can't talk about career navigation and success without tackling interpersonal skills. That's why we're bringing Mike Brown '06 on-board to discuss interpersonal skills, collaborating with a variety of personalities, leadership styles and how to develop strategic, authentic and beneficial relationships in your professional life.

Mike has grown his leadership and management skills in parallel with his team(s) growth over the years, and has learned a lot of hard lessons and celebrated many successes allong the way. Today, Mike is eager to share his lessons with fellow Panthers, with the hopes that you can use them to help carve your own path to success and career fulfillment.

Refreshments and appetizers will be provided.

Professional dress is recommended.

ABOUT MIKE BROWN '06

Before Mike Brown graduated from Chapman University in 2006 with a degree in business administration, he co-founded ModBargains.com at 19 years old when he became passionate about cars and noticed there was a need for easier access to automotive enhancements and aftermarket products. While a student at Chapman, Brown co-founded and operated ModBargains.com, a retailer of aftermarket car parts including wheels, exterior accessories, performance parts, and interior accessories. Fast forward to today, ModBargains has grown exponentially, and Mike is now the chief marketing officer at Amare Global.

Mike's purpose statement is to use his leadership strengths to create love, happiness, and prosperity. As a mentor at the Chapman University Entrepreneurship Village, he advises aspiring entrepreneurs to do what they are passionate about rather than what will earn the most money. “Ultimately, you are going to be pouring your entire life into your business, so you better enjoy what you are doing." Matching passion for the business along with solving a problem in the marketplace, leading to revenues, is Brown's focus & what he advises start-up entrepreneurs to focus on.

Mike is involved with many organizations including: SEMA Young Executive Network, SEMA Professional Restylers Organization, Chapman University Chapman50, Chapman University eVillage, and has been featured in the Orange County Register, OC Metro 40 under 40, Young Money magazine, Yahoo Finance, and other publications.
