An Italian Perspective: Cinema
Saturday, April 7, 2018
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. PST
Chapman Italian Studies Presents
CINEMA AND CULTURE: AN ITALIAN PERSPECTIVE
When movies were first invented, no one took to them with as much style and panache as the Italians did. Italian cinema – from the gates of Rome’s dream factory, the Cinecittà studio, to the colorful, surrealistic visions of Federico Fellini, the spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone and beyond – has long been a motive force in world filmmaking.
Join a group of distinguished scholars as they take you on a journey through the famous names and places, the themes and genres of Italian film. With film clips and fascinating commentary, they’ll guide you from Neorealism to La Dolce Vita and much more.
