Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) returns to Chapman University to present a remarkable program of contemporary music. MCME was founded in 1990 by Yuri Kasparov, under the patronage of the famous Russian composer Edison Denisov. The ensemble focuses on promoting 20th and 21st century music and is Russia's foremost contemporary chamber ensemble, comprised of some of the best Russian musicians specializing in modern music.

The program will include contemporary music by Russian, European, and American composers, from recognized masterpieces by George Crumb and Tristan Murail, to less frequently performed in the U.S. works by composers from former Soviet Union (Arvo Part and Sergei Slonimsky), to compositions commissioned and premiered by the ensemble, including music by CalState Fullerton University professor Pamela Madsen and Chapman University faculty member Vera Ivanova.

The MCME residency is supported in part by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation and by the Chapman University’s Personal Education Grant.

$10 general admission; $5 seniors 65+, and non-Chapman students; free for alumni and Chapman students, faculty, and staff.
