4:00pm: Poetry Reading
Suzanne Edison, author of Since the House Is Burning and the author/curator of The Body Lives Its Undoing: Exploring Autoimmune Disease through Poetry and Visual Art, will read from her own work that addresses the ways we, individually and as a society, live with health, illness, and disability. Edison's poetry gives voice to diabetes, a variety of autoimmune diseases, and other often familial experiences that may seem invisible and for which medical terminology can fall short. The event will include time for Q&A, and she'll offer a writing prompt so that those in attendance can consider their own assumptions and experiences with illness, disability, and caregiving.
This event is supported in part by Poets & Writers.
