Staff and Faculty

are invited to attend.

The IETL's annual January Conference on Teaching (JanCon) will include an array of programming on teaching and learning topics held Tuesday, January 19 - Friday, January 22 via Zoom. Full-time faculty and staff can register for individual programs they are interested in attending. Please note that, unfortunately, due to new changes in state law, part-time lecturers and graduate teaching assistants cannot attend JanCon because there is no budget to pay them for attendance.

The textbook affordability crisis has been documented in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the New York Times, and the Chapman University Panther. Open Educational Resources (OER) are a solution to this problem that can save students money, increase learning outcomes, and provide faculty with the ability to uniquely customize course materials. This presentation will introduce attendees to the world of OER, demonstrate how to identify OER to use in the classroom, and discuss the range of campus support for OER adoption.
