Science on Tap: Owning Your Health with Personal Diagnostic Devices
With Andrew Lyon, Founding Dean of Fowler School of Engineering
In this post-pandemic world, we are all too familiar with personal diagnostics in the form of rapid tests. However, there is a much wider world of existing and emerging tools that can help us take more proactive control of our health and wellness. In this conversation, Lyon will discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with creating an FDA-regulated diagnostic tool, and how his group has attempted to stretch the limits of that world through a vibrant startup called Sanguina. The company’s development of both physical and digital tools for the management of anemia represent just a small slice of the potential impact such devices can have on human health.
Andrew Lyon is the Founding Dean of the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering and the former Dean of Schmid College of Science and Technology. As the architect behind our long-running Science on Tap series, we are thrilled to be hosting Dr. Lyon for this very special kickoff to our Science on Tap season.
