Dr. Ronald Rivera, UC Irvine Medical Center Physician & Director of DEI
Dr. Ronald Rivera is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at UCI and serves the campus community as his department's Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Wellness and Clerkship Director for emergency medicine rotations.
He will discuss LGBTQ+ health equity and sex-positive approaches by addressing disparities. Q&A will follow the discussion moderated by Dr. Joshua Liashenko, director of the LGBTQ Studies Interdisciplinary Minor.
Dr. Rivera is a Dean's Scholar for the PRIME - Latino Communities program, a mission-based program at the shcool of medicine. He is also implementing one the first LGBTQIA+ mission-based programs for medical students.
His current projects include virtual reality empathy training for physicians to better work with patients from at-risk populations and imporving social determinants of health from the Emergency Room.
