The Iraq and Afghanistan Wars are the longest conflicts in U.S. history, and the first to rely on an All-Volunteer military. Reports of high rates of PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and suicide among veterans reveal that there are substantial consequences for a
country in a permanent state of war. This conversation explores what the forever war means for those asked to fight it, and what the obligations those on the homefront have in an era of persistent conflict.
