Fowler Engineering Presents: What Is It Like Being a Cybersecurity Consultant?

Speaker: Joe Stocker, CEO at Patriot Consulting

Abstract: Cybersecurity is a constantly evolving field with new threats and challenges emerging all the time. As such, it's essential for students to understand the latest trends and developments in cybersecurity, as well as to acquire the necessary skills to protect themselves and others from cyber attacks. Joe will explore some of the most important cybersecurity trends that students should be aware of, including the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, the increasing importance of data privacy and protection, and the growing prevalence of ransomware attacks. Joe will also discuss what current students should be looking out for and the skills they need to acquire to succeed in the field, such as coding, risk assessment, and ethical hacking. Finally, we will examine what working in cybersecurity is like and the fascinating questions that draw students into the field, such as how to prevent cyber terrorism, how to protect critical infrastructure from cyber attacks, and how to balance security with privacy in an increasingly digital world. Students will have a better understanding of the importance of cybersecurity and the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.
