Founders Day is an annual event sponsored by the Office of Church Relations honoring the heritage of the university. It connects students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members with an outstanding scholar in the area of religion. The event highlights Disciples on Campus students and provides an opportunity to support DOC scholarships.

This year's event is free but you must register to receive the virtual event link. Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) will be given.

The Office of Church Relations is very pleased to have Dr. Miguel A. De La Torre present at this year’s virtual Founders Day. His topic is decolonizing Christianity, helping us see and understand the unholy linking of racist white supremacist ideas and American Christianity.

Dr. De La Torre is a professor of social ethics and Latinx Studies at Iliff School of Theology in Denver. A modern Amos-like prophet who speaks a clarion message against myopic American Christianity, he has written more than two dozen books, including Liberation Theology for Armchair Theologians and Doing Christian Ethics from the Margins.

You can contact the event organizer, Kari Kempf at kempf@chapman.edu or (714) 997-6760.
