The Cross-Cultural Center would like to extend an invitation to you and your organization about a really awesome event that we have planned next week!  The theme is queer positivity and creating a safe space exempt of body shaming and transphobia. It’s focused on body positivity as well. We will be doing a short segment of a safe space training led by a cross-cultural team, then transition into a queer- and body-positive workshop as well as a Q&A. We have an amazing lineup of panelists listed below! The Queer Positivity Event will be hosted Tuesday 10/22/2019  from 5-6:30pm at the AF Student Union Stage. We hope to see you there!

Stephenie Pashkowsky:

Non binary LA based content creator who beats to their own drum! Great style and a body positive maven ready to help people take up as much space as possible. And Stephenie is a proud queer person.

Devan Rose

(He Him/They Them) is a two-spirit Yaqui native activist and artist from Long Beach, CA. He is a poet, photographer, illustrator/painter, actor, producer and playwright.  Omens, a native love story, is his most recently produced play for the Brown and Out 5 Theatre Festival in June of 2019. This lead to an opportunity for Rose to speak in interviews about the importance of visibility for trans/nonbinary communities. He’s been in award winning short films such as Whittier Boulevard and Get the Life which are both centered around a trans protagonist. They’ve been active in the social justice community for 5 years now working with non-profit organizations such as the California Conference for Equality and Justice (CCEJ) and Building Healthy Communities (BHC).. Through performance art Devan Rose hopes to not only bring recognition to two spirit folx, but to tell the real stories, struggles, and intersectionalities of his communities.
