Broadway powerhouse Mandy Patinkin brings his newest concept, Diaries – an intimate exploration of the music of Steven Sondheim, Harry Chapin, Randy Newman, Rufus Wainwright and more – to Musco Center. The fire-and-honey voice is still strong and true, as it has been since his Tony-winning 1980 debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita and his Tony-nominated role in 1984’s Pulitzer Prize winning Sunday in the Park with George. Patinkin has starred in countless Broadway shows since then, as well as solo concert tours around the world and starring roles in TV favorites, including Chicago Hope, Criminal Minds, and Homeland. Diaries spotlights Patinkin lending his signature style to a mix of pop and traditional musical-theatre fare, including tunes from his recent Diaries recordings on Nonesuch. He’s joined by arranger and music director Adam Ben-David on piano.
