WAY DEEP by Kate Burger, directed by Madi Lang-Ree
Winner of the 16th-Annual Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival, Burger's story is about a teenage romance. Discouraged by parents, the young lovers run away. We see the distraught parents, and we see the youngsters trying to cope, to get jobs, to live in a world beyond their means and experience. And final capitulation in the recognition scene. So real it makes you shiver.
DNA by Dennis Kelly, directed by Cecilia Soghikian
In Kelly's play, some teenagers do something bad, really bad, then panic and cover the whole thing up. But when they find that the cover-up unites them and brings harmony to their once fractious lives, where's the incentive to put things right?
