2018 Chapman Celebrates Vocal Auditions
ALL Chapman students are encouraged to audition!
The College of Performing Arts is seeking singers, dancers and actors for Chapman Celebrates, an annual musical spectacular featuring the talents of students from all over campus! This year we are celebrating Music from the Silver Screen. We encourage you to bring in music that fits this theme in any way, but we will hear any song(s) you wish to sing (dance auditions will be held during the fall semester).
Make an audition appointment!
What to Prepare?
Please prepare one or two 16-bar cuts (approx. 30 seconds each) from any two genres below:
• Pop/Rock
• R&B
• Jazz
• Opera or Classical
* If you do not consider yourself a soloist, you are welcome to sing only one (1) selection
What to Bring?
Sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist and your proposed fall schedule. You will fill out an audition form and provide us with your conflicts (work, classes, travel, etc.).
What to Sing?
We have not selected material yet, so choose any song which you feel shows off your voice. Suggestions: My Heart Will Go On (Titanic), Eye of the Tiger (Rocky), anything sung by The Three Tenors, City of Stars (La La Land), Ripple (a Grateful Dead song featured in TV shows and movies), Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing, etc.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will start in small-groups throughout the fall, held on an as-needed basis and scheduled based on availability. There will also be some required full-cast rehearsals, beginning in mid-October and continuing until opening night.
