This spring, the IETL’s Faculty Open Classroom Initiative (FOCI) will promote shared understandings about teaching and learning on Chapman’s Orange campus by encouraging faculty members across disciplines to visit their colleagues’ classes. Rinker Campus faculty can look forward to a similar initiative to occur in Fall 2018.

This non-evaluative, voluntary classroom visitation program aims to have faculty members, both full-time and part-time:

• connect with one another as teaching colleagues,
• engage with content that is outside of their teaching assignments, and
• gain perspective on the Chapman student experience in a variety of classroom and disciplinary settings.

In appreciation for their participation, all faculty hosts and visitors will receive two (2) complimentary lunch tickets to the Faculty Athenaeum in Argyros Forum.

All classroom visits will occur during FOCI Week, Wednesday, April 11 through Tuesday, April 17.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Interested in hosting faculty visitors in your class? Sign up NOW as a host and provide information about your class by using this Google form. Host sign ups end March 16.

Want to visit other faculty members’ classes? Sign up as a visitor and choose specific classes between March 26 and April 6 (check your email on March 26 for Visitor Sign Up instructions).

Save the date now: FOCI Closing Celebration will be held Wednesday, April 18 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Faculty Athenaeum for faculty participants to connect and share their experiences.
