It has been 20 years since the the historic Good Friday Peace Agreement in Northern Ireland. Much has changed since then and others has not and with the looming Brexit decision the focus on this issues has returned. In this two day conference we want to discuss what we can learn from this peace process and the especially the post-peace process development for other conflicts and hopefully peace processes around the world. Please join us to hear from experts and practitioners who have studied and were involved with this amazing part of history. 

If you're interested in this event, you might like to attend the following:

1. “Conversation Kitchen with Professor Bill Rolsten” Monday, February 26th at noon, Emerald Bay AB, UCI Student Center (reservation required).

2. Followed by an opening exhibition about the Murals in Northern Ireland with Professor Bill Rolston (University of Ulster), Monday, February 26th at 1:30pm, Viewpoint Gallery (next to Crystal Cover Auditorium), UCI Student Center .

In partnership with Illuminations and the Campus Climate Council an exhibition will be opened in the Viewpoint Gallery and present a very informative and educational exhibition about the murals in Northern Ireland. 

3. “The Legacy of the Northern Ireland Peace Process and Transitional Justice” Monday, February 26th at 3-5pm,  SBSG 1517, UC Irvine.

In partnership with academic departments and schools at UCI, the panel will featuring Professor Paul Arthur (University of Ulster), Professor Bill Rolston (University of Ulster), Rev. Gary Mason (from Belfast), Professor Nevin Aiken (University of Wyoming) and other local academics, to discuss the legacy of the Northern Ireland Troubles and Peace Process and the issue of Transitional Justice. The panel discussion will be moderated by Professor David Snow (UCI).

4. “Citizen Peacebuilding and the Northern Ireland Peace Process” Monday, February 26th at 6-9pm, Pacific Ballroom D, UCI Student Center.

This final event will feature all our guests from Northern Ireland (Arthur, Rolston, Mason) and highlight their personal stories as Citizen Peacebuilder and also will include clips and a conversation with film-maker Maurice H. Fitzpatrick about the documentary  "In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America” and its relevance for the situation in the US today.
