The Vagina Monologues are a series of monologues that aim to break down societal stigma surrounding the vagina. Each monologue centers around a different theme (such as pubic hair, sexual assault, childbirth, sex reassignment surgery, and body image), and is based on the hundreds of interviews the author, Eve Ensler, conducted while working on the project. The Monologues are widely considered to be one of the most groundbreaking and inspiring works of media that have come out of the feminist movement, and Chapman’s Department of Residence Life and First Year Experience proudly hosts an annual production.
